Talk Red Wine

I start to get know more about drink red wine, and finally understand the different within those term in the label by taste those one by one. Whether Shiraz (or Syrah), Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, to name a few of it. Especially now have the private bar counter for wine and alcohol drinks, do not want to waste it for decoration purpose, instead should use it for the function it should serve – have a good time. As far as no excessive in drinking, it should be enjoyable experience.

Wine, alcoholic beverage, typical made by fermented grape juice, available in the history can trace back since 6000BC. Can see lot of the drink scene from important paintings that remain as well as record in the books.

In here I refer to White and Red Wine, for this article especially refer to red wine. Other wine such as rice wine (ie Japan sake, French Brandy, English Whiskey, Russia Vodka etc) is not cover here and not mix with them.

No all the wine is the same, as experience grow, you gain experience by judge the color of the wine, smell of the wine and from the place of origin,  producer and year, that make wine tasting a art by itself, require to accumulate ongoing working knowledge of the wine industry product and up date the information on the product.

Fine wine typically trade at USD 30 – 50 range, I am myself is not investor or collector, those wine that call for thousands of dollars per bottle is not in my hobby. For me, drink is drink, got to have base line, since yet to achieve those collector status, do not experience the thinking behind of the collector yet. I do not label myself as the expert and can judge the quality of the wines, so I do not have comment on the wine tasting, especially for those very rare old wine that is well keep, that is fall under collector item.

For me wine produce and market by wine maker countries such as France, Italy, Spain, US, Argentina, Australia, China, South Africa, Chile, Germany is all just fine. For me, what I really look for is quality for time, let said drink it while have quality of reading time.

Red, white and sparking wines are classify as light wines since just 10-14% of alcohol content. Aperitif and desert wines contain 14-20% alcohol. This is why red wine have more daily occasions to be drink and consumption compare with heavy drink like brandy.

Red wine can be for simple grouping into following red wine style or content, light wine with Beaujolais Nouveau, Medium Wine like Merlot, Shiraz or Chianti, Full-bodied red wine such as Bordeaux wines, California Key Cabs and Italy Super Tuscans.

Common red wine varietals available in the market that can be purchase from Cabernet Sauvignon (common refer as the “king of red wine grapes”, Pinot Noir, Zinfandel, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petite Sirah, Syrah (Shiraz), Sangiovese, Malbec, and Grenache.

Red wine pairing food range from red meats, flavourful and heartier (red) pastas, lamb, strong-flavored cheese, and chocolates (especially dark chocolates).
