Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets 2017 is a long movie title name. It original come idea come from french comic and adapted for the movie story. I never saw the comic before, but for sure adapted printed media to visual motion picture media, you need to change to media and modified it suitable to be tell the story in visual way. I finally found the time and watch it. Indeed really good sci-fi movie, especially for after saw just too much US marketing movie, this French director Luc Besson movie, as always provide new and fresh air, if this movie no perform well globally, mainly due to distribution network and marketing execution, by movie itself 5 stars.
Never expect space and galaxy movie after start wars and US made can provide such a story, and if the movie is make profit, I expect for part II on the way.
In the 28th century, the former International Space Station has reached critical mass, making it too dangerous to keep in Low Earth Orbit. Relocated to deep space, it became Alpha, a space-traveling city inhabited by millions of creatures from thousands of planets. This is good opening for set the stage for where the story finally continue.
Main actor Major Valerian, for me look just too young and lack of persuasive on the role.
In the movie, Sergeant Laureline is eye catching.
Rihanna as Bubble, a shapeshifting alien entertainer the performance is really eye catching. Same like last round saw on 5th elements.
Luc Besson movie such as Nikita, Leon: The Professional, The Messenger: The Story of Joan of Arc, The Fifth Element, Lucy all entertain and make my movie memory.
